Spotlight

Elisa Scala, International Business, at UWS

12 Dec 2023

Meet Elisa Scala, who is completing a BA (Hons) in International Business, at UWS. Elisa has been a student here since 2022, so we asked her what she enjoys about studying at the Republic campus.

What do you enjoy about studying here?

The vibrant and inclusive community! The mix of students from around the world inspires innovative ideas and a rich learning environment, plus great networking opportunities.

What led you to study here?

Renowned for hosting top-tier universities, Republic Education Campus was an obvious choice for furthering my studies. It’s in a great location in East London and has a unique combination of academia and a vibrant, accessible environment.

What does your typical day on campus look like?

My day begins by attending lectures and workshops at the University of West of Scotland. Afterwards, I typically work on collaborative group projects with other students followed by other community activities on campus like yoga classes or visiting the onsite gyms.

How do you find getting here?

With easy public transport options such as the DLR, the campus’ strategic location makes commuting easier. Its proximity to Canary Wharf adds to the convenience factor.

Any other tips for new students on campus?

Make sure you get involved in campus-wide community events like ‘Yoga by the Lake’ and the ‘Lunch and Lounge’ social events. The Republic events programme helps you meet students from other courses and even other universities, helping you make the most of a well-rounded campus experience.

Also, be sure to try Sandwich Plus, which offers delicious and budget-friendly food options for lunch breaks!
