Masks and Unmasking Performance
Experience Masks and Unmasking at Republic London, a series of monologues and short plays exploring the different masks we wear in everyday life. Created and performed by Charlotte Jennings of Quassu Theatre Company, the performance explores the ways people hide parts of themselves and the moments when they feel able to truly be themselves.
Stories of Identity and Trust
Masks and Unmasking explores themes including relationships, joy, abuse, vulnerability, and hope. Each piece offers a different perspective on the experiences that shape how we present ourselves to others. Some of the pieces stand alone, while others connect to create a wider story. Together, they explore the complexity of identity and the different ways people navigate relationships and personal experiences. At the heart of the performance is a simple idea: we often wear masks to protect ourselves. However, we may feel able to take those masks off when we are alone or when we are with someone we trust.
A Series of Short Performances
The format brings together monologues and short plays, allowing each story to develop in its own way. Some moments are intimate and reflective, while others explore more difficult experiences. Through theatre, Masks and Unmasking creates space to think about authenticity, connection, and the relationships that allow people to feel safe enough to be themselves. The performance forms part of Republic’s wider Black History Month programme, bringing theatre alongside exhibitions, workshops, and community events throughout October.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
