Recently, we caught up with Oana Shega, who studies Business and Law at ARU. She’s been studying at Republic since September 2021, so we asked about her typical day on campus.
What do you like about studying at the Republic Campus?
I love studying at the Republic Campus as it is an innovative building and a quiet place where you can enjoy the beautiful views around and focus on your work, and because it is quite luxurious.
What does your typical day on campus involve?
My typical day on Campus: I usually reach Campus around 9:45 am when I grab a quick double macchiato from Gelato a Casa, after which I head up for the classes. In the first break I usually catch up with friends on assessments or life in general, at lunchtime we grab a menu from Salento Restaurant (they have a special student menu at around £5 which is affordable). We usually have lunch in the campus cafeteria on the 3rd floor or, sometimes, on the communal terrace upstairs which is beautiful. Sometimes after I have lunch I get to have a small chat with the Employability Team or the Students Union and catch up on what events or news are there for students. Second coffee break: again coffee from Gelato a Casa as I am in love with their coffee! At 5 pm I leave the campus.
How do you find getting here?
Getting here is easy as I am living in NW London, so Northern Line and DLR in about 50 minutes travel.
Any campus, or local, tips for new students?
I’m not much of an outside person but can recommend the Gelato a Casa for coffee and snacks and Salento for affordable prices. My advice is to take advantage of the surroundings of the Campus and watch out for the Republic events as they are fun, and you can meet other new students.
