Want to know more about the millenia-old system of Qigong?
In this one hour session we will combine theory and practice to explore the traditional martial arts practice of Qigong.
What is Qigong?
It is the practice and development of body-posture, movement, breathing, and meditation for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial-arts training. Qigong movements are generally simple, gentle and relaxed. The primary focus initially is to release unnecessary tension from both body and mind.
We “regulate the body, regulate the breath, regulate the mind”. Here the regulation is not something enforced but rather something that is given time and space to emerge.
What will this session include?
The session will be run by __ and we will start with movement practice, followed by an overview of Qigong’s origins in Chinese cosmology, medicine and philosophy. In learning the theory, there will be a focus on the Qigong Element of Metal, which corresponds to the current season of autumn.
If possible it is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing and to have some space around you to move freely. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and share observations at the end.
