Republic. The Future.
You might have spotted our team of community researchers out and about in the area around Republic in recent weeks. This team is the result of a partnership between Republic, City Gateway, Trilogy Real Estate and LaSalle Investment Managment to help upskill young Londoners as part of our work at Republic.
Trilogy’s Head of Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement, May Molteno, leads a training session on placemaking for City Gateway learners on the ninth floor of the Import Building.
Republic has has shared its ideas for the future of the campus with local people and we’re keen to hear your opinions.
As part of this outreach, we’ve put together a team of community researchers whose job is to go out into the local area and ask people for their views on our proposed future development.
Training focused on asking practical questions about Republic and the surrounding area
At Republic we’re keen to work with people from the communities immediately surrounding the development, providing opportunities for professional development and upskilling as part of the work we do. Rather than recruit a team of experienced community researchers we were able to partner with Republic tenant City Gateway to provide a training opportunity for young learners who are part of their mentoring and traineeship programmes.
Trilogy Real Estate’s Head of Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement, May Molteno, put together a short course on placemaking and community research with City Gateway’s tutors, and the learners took part in a ten-day programme of practical workshops and work experience.
Local Councillor Ehtasham Haque joined one of the placemaking training sessions.
Following the course, five of the participants were offered and accepted paid contracts to complete community research for the duration of the planning consultation period. An additional two accepted roles as Youth Community Researchers.
The sessions taught collaborative methods for understanding different users’ needs within a space.
Many thanks to Trilogy Real Estate and LaSalle Investment Management for their support.
